Another small car that I had keep warm, before taking it out in dl. The mythical RX-7 FD in this Spirit R version with its rotary wankel engine created by Felix Wankel one of the first car to use this engine was not mazda but NSU which joined forces with Citroën in 1967 to create the company COMOTOR which will produce the engines of the NSU Ro 80, of the Citroën GS Birotor. But it is Mazda who uses it the most and popularizes it near JDM enthusiasts with the RX-2 (the first Rotary) RX-3, RX-7, RX-8…. and Mazda today is the only one to use this engine since the next electric MX-30 will use the wankel engine to provide electricity when the batteries are empty.
And for the curious “R” in RX-7 stands for the rotary engine. “X” symbolizing the future. The “7” signifies the order of development of rotary engine cars. but “7” was given because it is a lucky number.
